Actor Alia Bhatt, who was in Delhi recently, seemed all concerned about the safety of women in the Capital and elsewhere in the country. Alia, who was attending an event on women’s empowerment organised by Amanuday, an NGO in the city, urged women not to be scared, and to follow their dreams.
“Women in the Capital are not as safe as they were decades ago. But they should come out of their boxes, get out of their houses and pursue their dreams. They should come out of their shell,” said the 20-year-old.
Asked who her role model is, the Student of the Year heroine said, “My mother. She was just 17 years old when she went to London alone and took up three jobs at the same time. She conquered a lot and brought me and my sister up beautifully. She also worked at the same time and built her career. She is my idol.”
Alia, who loves to visit Delhi, said, “I have shot in Delhi a couple of times and I keep coming back for something or the other. My favourite street food here is chaat.” Alia’s upcoming films include 2-States and Highway.
